Shared Boys Room Inspiration

So, my boys love each other.  They are total best buds.  Except for when one is sitting on the other’s head, but thats besides the point.

John and I have been discussing putting them in the same room lately because they would probably have so much fun and never sleep again, but at least they’d have each other right??  Plus, it would be awesome to have our guest room back because we are frequently hosting family and friends from out of town.  Currently, we have a pull out sofa in Christian’s room acting as our guest bed and Christian sleeps in the pack n play in our room when there are people occupying his room.  Sometimes this is fine, but a lot of times he wakes up and I can’t get him back to sleep so he and I end up “sleeping” on the sofa downstairs.  He sleeps and I am uncomfortable.

So, I’ve been brainstorming a shared room for the two of them by moving them both into Alex’s room.  I’ve been researching if it will be awful to put a 1 year old and 3 year old in the same room or if it will be nbd.  So far, I’ve read that it will just take a few nights for them to get used to it.  Mostly, I keep imagining Alex flipping himself into Christian’s crib and body slamming him in the middle of the night.  Totally normal right??

My inspiration for their design board came from the boxes of model cars we have down in the basement.  John gets a car every Christmas from his grandpa, so we have a bunch of really cool cars!  I figured that would be an awesome theme for their room since John’s family owns a bunch of dealerships and my dad works for a racing team!  Fun!

So, here it is!

Inspiration board

1 &2 are from Namely Original’s car room.  I pretty much love this whole room!  The street signs are super fun and I love vintage license plates!  I think I could scrape a few up for the boys’ room!

3. I am planning to make on a wood sign (obviously).  We are a Ford family through and through so it only makes sense 🙂

4. Instead of the wall of cars (because all I see are two little boys pulling them all down ASAP) I am thinking of doing a shelf up high around the room to display the cars.

5. These vintage car prints are adorable from Flights by Number on Etsy!  She has planes, helicopters, hot air balloons and so much cuteness to choose from!

There is no telling when I will actually get around to doing this room, but I’m totally loving my inspiration so far!  We will definitely be waiting until all of Christian’s 1 year old molars finish coming in because, teething.  Yikes.

Tell me about your little ones sharing a room at a young age!  Disaster? Totally awesome?

Thanks for dropping by!
