Gift Guide for Young Kiddos

I had the hardest time coming up with gift ideas for the boys for Christmas this year.  People kept asking me what they might like, and I was coming up empty every time!  I’m firmly on the “we don’t need anymore toys” train, but I knew that wouldn’t hold much water with the grandparents 😉  So, I racked my brain and searched Pinterest and came up with some ideas!  Some toys, and some more practical gifts.

Clothing (For Alex because Christian is totally buried deep in his brother’s hand-me-downs) was a necessity because Alex’s pants and sleeves are getting too short!  He is growing like a weed!  I can’t believe I am already asking for size 3T.

Old Navy is my go-to for Alex.  The pants have adjustable waist bands which are perfect for my skinny little toddler and their shirts are so darn cute and really stand up to all that he puts them through!

I was racking my brain for things Alex has that he can’t necessarily share with Christian and I came up with the Cloud B Twilight Bunny.  Alex has the Twilight Turtle and loves it, so I figured Christian might love it one day too!  And lately, Alex has been asking me to keep the light on for him to read his books after he gets tucked in (a boy after my own bookwormy heart!) so I started searching for something that could work for that!  This Munchkin Light My Way Nightlight is perfect because it gives enough light for him to look at his books and has a 20 minute timer so he won’t be up all night reading.

Toys, toys, toys:  I didn’t come up with all of these ideas, but I love them all.  I had some help from my sister and sister-in-law =]

Gift Guide for Young Children

1)B. One Two Squeeze Blocks:  The boys have already been playing with these since we celebrated Christmas the day after Thanksgiving with the Reinekes and they are a hit!  They were meant for Christian, but Alex loves building them up and knocking them down (which makes Christian crack up!).  Thanks, Aunt Shalyn!

2)Fisher-Price Triple Hit Baseball Stand: Another gift we already received, but haven’t put to use yet (because it’s too cold out) but I imagine Alex is going to love whacking that ball off the tee this spring!  I love the fact that it can grow with the boys and it “pitches” balls too!

3)Battat Take Apart Plane:  We got this gift for our nephew Oliver, but before he could open it, Alex (when he should have been napping) was caught red-handed playing with it!  It was definitely a hit and it’s perfect if you have a little one that loves puzzles!

4) Melissa & Doug Stacking Construction Vehicles:  I’m a sucker for Melissa and Doug anything, but Alex loves these stackable construction vehicles.  He is constantly taking them apart and building them back up; sometimes he even mixes up the pieces to create his own vehicles!  Hooray for imagination!

5) Melissa & Doug Stacking Train: I’ve been eyeing this train since my sister got the giant version for Parker last year.  I opted to ask for the smaller version because we are quickly running out of space in our playroom!

6) Transport Sandwich Cutters:  These are basically the only way I can get Alex to eat a sandwich.  Plus, he loves helping me in the kitchen, so these are a win-win in my books!

That pretty much wraps up what we came up with for the boys this year!  All of these can obviously apply to girl gifts too, I just only know what my boys are playing with right now 🙂  Hopefully this helps you to think of some things for those little ones in your life this Holiday Season!

Happy gifting!
