Detroit Marathon 2013!

This post should be titled “Photo Shoot of Two Really Adorable Running Fans and Two Blurry Running Photos”, but I thought that would be a little too long.

Well, John and Jose finished their 2nd Detroit Marathon yesterday!  John’s time was 4:20.02 and Jose’s time was 4:30.57.  Pretty awesome if you ask me!  Sarah, Alex, Parker and I were all there to cheer them on =]

They were extremely proud of these jackets they picked up from Salvation Army for their throw away gear at the start of the race.  Athens swimming for life.

Sarah and I arrived in Detroit just in time to miss both guys at mile 8.  Whomp whomp.  But, we booked it over to mile 13 so we wouldn’t miss them again.

We had two very happy fans at this point!  Well, one really happy fan and one that is just smiling for the camera.

And, now for my above par photography skills of people in motion.  I guess they were just moving way too fast for me to capture.  Both of them looked great at the halfway point!  Take my word for it.

After they saw their dads, they realized they were still stuck with us.  Parker gave me his classic one eyebrow raised look.

And Alex wanted a snack.

Then, we had a few hours to kill so we went searching for some breakfast.  After a few failed attempts, we ended up at Tim Hortons.  We scarfed down some Timbits (yum!) and breakfast sandwiches and were on our way to the finish line!  Parker loved playing peek-a-boo with his daddy’s fathead.  It kept him busy for a good 5 minutes.

Then they started to lose it…

Lucky for us, Grandma and Grandpa Reineke showed up!

And then, daddies came across the finish line!  Alex missed John so much!

Cue post-race pictures.  John’s dad ran the International Half-Marathon (his 3rd half!).

And…time for a nap.

Marathon sleep

All-in-all it was a cold (but not rainy!) race day!  We can’t wait for the next one, which is this coming Saturday (for John at least).  He’s tackling the Mackinac Island Great Turtle Run (5.7 mile race).
